Instructions For Mailing:
1. Follow all steps found on the quilt preparation page under the Quilt Preparation tab (above) before packaging your quilt top for mailing.
2. Use a safety pin to attach your identifying information to the quilt top. An index card works great for this. This label should list your complete name, address, phone number along with return shipping instructions. (Sometimes completed quilts are shipped to a different recipient than the sender.)
3. Place your quilt top into a strong clear plastic bag to protect it in case the box gets wet. You can purchase extra-large ziplock-type bags that will work nicely for this step. Please do NOT put your quilt in an opaque plastic garbage bag, well-meaning people could assume it is garbage and throw it away!
4. Mail your quilt in a strong, NEW box; one that will not easily get crushed or damaged in shipping. If using a previously used box, make sure all old barcodes and addresses are covered. We prefer to use the same box to return your quilt to you. If you use a box that is a little bit larger than is needed for your unfinished quilt it should work fine.
5. Write your return address and my address directly onto the outside of the box with a permanent waterproof marker and then completely cover both addresses with clear packaging tape and over ALL of the flaps and edges that could get caught in a machine and conveyor belts. Do not use masking tape as it is not strong enough to hold up to all the stresses of shipping.
6. Insure your quilt – a small fee, but a huge help if it is lost or damaged! Do NOT list “quilt” as the contents of the box – list textiles, fabric, or linens, anything but quilt! Quilts are known to have been stolen.
7. Ship it so that the shop has to sign for it when it arrives. You do not want it sitting outside in a rain or snow storm. The shop address is 790 N Dixie Hwy, Elizabethtown, KY 42701.
